Otávio Rocha Viaduct Staircase

Borges de Medeiros Av and Duque de Caxias st. – Historic District

The experimentation of bodies that recognize themselves as speaking bodies and that question the socially constructed body is the starting point of the “temporary anatomy” urban installation-performance. Produced and directed by artist Carol Martins, the intersection of language research (which unites dance, circus and performance) proposes to critically manifest performative bodies in relation to the use of stilts and the occupation of urban space.

The proposal is that each performer (Bruno Fernandes, Consuelo Vallandro, Gabi Faryas, Guilherme Gonçalves, João Om, Jordan Maia, Marcelo Reis and Rita Spier) occupy a niche-floor of the Otávio Rocha Viaduct staircase, as its space for interaction with the architecture and execution of a particular performance experience, while a video performance will be projected on the walls of the surrounding buildings.

The performance-installation “Anatomia Temporária” is also a reinterpretation of the video performance Epiceno, awarded by the Public Notice for Creation and Training Diversities of Cultures – carried out by the State Department of Culture of Rio Grande do Sul (Sedac), in partnership with the Marcopolo Foundation – the work was carried out with resources from the Aldir Blanc Law n°14.017/20. Epiceno is a noun used to designate animals with only one gender (jaguar or alligator, for example). From this, the same eight performers of “temporary anatomy” traversed predetermined meanings of negotiation between female/male, creating a fiction of themselves. Changing the balance and possible imbalance in stilts, they present the spectator with bodies that can be human, animals, plastic, artificial, which also alter their normal height.

"Temporary Anatomy" will also be built with the collaboration of Carlota Albuquerque as a provocateur in Bodily Poetics.
